Easter Week Photos

The kids really had fun with all the Easter activities this week. Everyone wanted to dye an Easter Egg and the egg hunt was a great surprise. Thank you for bringing in filled Easter Eggs! I've uploaded photos of the week to the album: Easter Week 2008.

Lastly, just to clear up any confusion...my last day is Friday, April 18th. I think some people thought it was last week. Sorry, you're stuck with me a few more weeks! ;-)

I'm working on the yearbooks this week. I hope to have them done and ordered before the end of break. It's been challenging making sure that 30 kids are equally represented throughout the book. I hope you all will be pleased with the outcome! :-) I assume the books will arrive before I leave but if they do not I will just plan on bringing them by the school when they do arrive.

Please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions about my leaving or the transition or anything like that. You can of course feel free to talk to Denise as well. Her e-mail address is also on the newsletter.

Enjoy your nice long break! Let's hope for at least a few nice days!

Yearbooks

I just wanted to remind you that money for yearbooks is due by the end of this week before we head off for Spring Break. I attached the sign-up sheet to the sign-in sheet so you can check to see if you've paid or not. The names that have a star beside them still need to pay.

Thanks! :-)

Pet Week

The kids had fun and learned a lot about caring for pets and being safe around strange dogs and their people. I've uploaded some photos to a new album: Pet Week 2008.

Don't forget, we have a meeting on Monday and Tuesday morning next week. We'll chat for about ten minutes after your drop your children off. I have some important information to share that you need to know. Hope to see you there!

I promise only to take a few moments of your time. Probably 9:05-9:15 am and 12:20-12:30 pm.

Thank You!

Our baskets for the silent auction really came together! Thank you SOOO much to everyone who donated! I also hope you'll enjoy the project that our class made for the auction. The designs were created using your children's fingerprints.

I hope to see all of you at carnival tomorrow evening! And just think, the piles of papers and information that has been all over our board and sign up sheet will be gone tomorrow! :-)

If you haven't signed up to help yet, we still have 3 open slots and we could use 3 people to help with set-up or tear-down.

Thanks!

Vote for Bella Mia

Well, with all the talk of voting these days, I thought I'd give you a chance to vote for something a little less controversial.

I entered Bella's photo in a contest. If you want to vote for her (because she is the cutest as you know), please go to...

Dr. Seuss Week Photos

I was so impressed that everyone remembered to wear their pjs on Thursday and Friday! Trust me, that is quite an accomplishment. :-) And almost everyone tried the green eggs and ham. While eating them, many of the kids started reciting the book, which was incredibly entertaining. They were talking to each other saying things like, "I like green eggs and ham! I would eat them in a house and I would eat them with a mouse. I would eat them here or there. I would eat them ANYWHERE!" And they were so animated. I wish I would have gotten a video.

I have uploaded a new album of photos: Dr. Seuss Week.

Carnival Details

Here's some information for you about our upcoming carnival...

Tickets are on sale this week. They cost 5 for $1.00. If you wait until the day of carnival, the cost will be 4 for $1. I believe you can play each game once, including the bounce house for $3.00.

Meals this week are boxed meals and can only be ordered ahead of time. You can see a list of meals available for order on our bulletin board. See Maria to place your order. We do not make any money on the meals so please don't feel obligated to purchase them. They are a little expensive.

The Bookwalk is our class game. Please sign up for a 1/2 hour slot to help run the bookwalk. We need 2 parents for each 1/2 hour slot. The sign up sheet is on the bulletin board.

Set-up/Tear-down help is also needed. The carnival committee is requesting that we have 3 parents from each class signed up to help. The sign up sheet is on the bulletin board, under the bookwalk sign up.

Silent Auction Baskets are beginning to come together. If you haven't signed up to donate anything yet, the sign up sheets are attached to the sign-in sheet. All items need to be received by Tuesday, March 11th. We could really use a large cooler to be our "basket" for the camping basket. I'm not sure how to package the family night basket, if you have any ideas, I'm all ears.

Let me know if you have any questions and thank you in advance for making the carnival a positive experience for all our kids! :-)

Dr. Seuss Week Newsletter

A Note From the Teacher

Every year each class puts together baskets to be used in our silent auction. The baskets we will be putting together this year are a CAMPING BASKET and a FAMILY NIGHT BASKET. You can sign up on the sign up sheet for either or both baskets. All items are due in class by Tuesday, March 11th. If you have any questions, please let me know!

Don’t forget about our PJ party this Thursday and Friday. Kids can come in their PJs and we will plan on staying inside on those days regardless of the weather so you don't have to worry about that. If you are willing to provide cupcakes to help us celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday for either day, please let me know.

We’ve gotten 27 sign ups for yearbooks this year. That’s great! We have 30 kids total in class so I’m pleased that so many of you would like to preserve your child’s memories of our year. :-) Don’t forget, payment for those is due the Friday prior to Spring Break, March 28th. I will only order books that have been paid for since any unpaid books would end up coming out of my pocket. Thanks for understanding! :-)

-Teacher April

This Week in the Sunshine Class

Dr. Seuss Week is full of fun things and a focus on the joy of reading. In honor of that we’ll be having a PJ party on Thursday and Friday! I don’t know about you, but I love to cuddle up on the couch in my pjs with a good book. We’ll celebrate Dr. Seuss’ birthday those days too!
We’ll be doing some rhyming activities since Dr. Seuss books are filled with silly rhymes.

The kids love having access to art supplies to create their own pictures. Almost every day they pull them out to draw and cut and color. Last year a family donated some Dr. Seuss stencils to us so we’ll put those out for fun creations.

One of my favorite activities during Dr. Seuss week is the annual taste-testing of green eggs and ham. That will be our cooking project this month too. We’ll mix together eggs and milk and green food coloring then scramble them up! It’s a little gross to look at but of course very yummy!

After reading One Fish Two Fish Red Fish, Blue Fish we’ll make our own fish bowls with fish stamps and after reading Dr. Seuss’ ABCs we’ll making Alphabet collages with stamps and letter cutouts.

Oh we’ll play fish bingo...a version of bingo using numbers and fish crackers...always a favorite game. :-)
