Weather Wednesday

Today we got started on our ladybugs! It's a tough craft but good cutting practice. They are cutting out the ladybug bodies and some of them will cut their black dots. Later they'll get to glue them all together. :-) It seems as though many of their cutting skills are growing! That's great!

We ended up making sugar cookies today for fun. We had some leftover dough from our Valentine's Day party so we baked them and let the kids ice them. They were yummy!

Connor suggested listening to a book on CD today so we took a class vote on two activities for circle time and the kids agreed to listen to the book. Mikey chose a book called, "My Friend the Snowman." It actually went well with our weather theme because we got to talk about snow and what season we have snow. The kids all agreed that we wouldn't have any snow anymore this year because it's Spring now.

Anyway, here's some photos, mainly of cutting out their ladybugs...

A few recent videos...

Here's a few videos I've taken recently...

Healthy Monday

We started our week all about healthy living! We spent time doing yoga in the upstairs room. I don't know about the kids but I certainly worked up a sweat! :-) You'll love the kids "chicken pox" paintings. They put little red dots all over a silly face I drew and then painted with pink paint or "calamine lotion" - as we called it. :-) They had a lot of fun with it as you'll see in the video I took. I'm sure you saw what was leftover on their pink hands!

Here's some fun photos...

I'll upload a video of the pink paint once it processes. :0)

St. Patrick's Week - Friday

The kids had fun with our St. Patrick's Day parade today! They got to play instruments while marching all around the school and wishing everyone a "Happy St. Patrick's Day!" They did a great job!

St. Patrick's Week - Thursday

It was good to see so many of you at the carnival tonight! Thanks SOO much to the moms who helped out with the book walk!

Today we had a lot of fun at school. We got to preview the bounce house, go to the park, eat yummy cookies, and more! There are some cute photos from the park so I hope you'll check them out at....

I took some videos too so I'll probably get them uploaded over the weekend. :-)

St. Patty's Week - Wednesday

Here's a video from Tuesday that I forgot to upload until today. :-)

We got to do a fun science experiment today! We talked about how colors mix together to make other colors and then we mixed food coloring to see what happened. Then we were reminded that we have color sticks in our classroom that allow you to place one color over another and look in the light to see the color the make in the middle! They're very cool and the kids had fun helping mix the colors and seeing what happened. There's a few photos included.

Also, we've been working on cutting this week with big shamrocks to cut-out. Many of the children struggle to hold the scissors in the way that will help them cut more easily. You may want to give them scrap paper and child-friendly scissors at home to encourage more practice.

Here's today's photos!...

St. Patty's Week - Tuesday

Aren't you just loving this Spring weather? The blooming trees are so beautiful! We stayed outside extra long today to enjoy it and if it's as nice as they are saying it will be on Thursday, we're going to walk across the street to the park. It's right behind the Art School. I had no idea it was there until this past fall. :-) That will be a special treat!

Our sign-ups for volunteering at the carnival are looking a little sad. :-( Poor lonely book walk. I hope some of you are just waiting until the last minute to volunteer for a 1/2 hour time slot during the carnival. Don't worry, it's really easy and we'll be around to show you how to do it. I'm going to have to learn myself! Last year my class did the Frog Toss. But Teacher Denise knows all about the bookwalk so she'll be our expert. :-) You can still sign up until Thursday. Don't forget to buy your tickets pre-sale until tomorrow (Wed.) at noon I think. Hope to see everyone there!

St. Patrick's Week - Monday

Well I guess I found a new favorite activity for the kids! :-) Today the kids asked if they could listened to a story on CD like we did on Friday. Then they wanted to bring the pillows down and turn off the lights while they listened. So we did! They enjoyed another story on CD and a relaxing end to our day. :-)

Here's a few photos of our day...

Don't forget, tomorrow (Tuesday) is the last day to bring in your items for the silent auction baskets. Also, pre-sale tickets for the carnival are on sale until Wednesday. For your kids to enjoy each game one time you will need 8 tickets. Of course if they will want to play the games more than once, you will need more tickets.

Past Photo Links

In case you are interested in ordering photos from past links I believe there are two ways you can access them. Of course you can always open up the archived blogs and click on each individual link. That's the long way.

I also think you can do it a quicker way. Click on one of the links and go to the bottom of the album cover where it says, "Album information." I think there is a link at the bottom right-hand corner that lets you view all the albums for the creator (which is me). I can't tell from my computer because it automatically logs me in as the user if this works. Can someone try it and let me know so I can let everyone else know?

You are always welcome to order any photos you would like from www.imagestation.com. Just look for the links that say to order photos and follow their instructions from there.

Thanks!

Our Trip to Italy - Friday

Today we took it pretty easy and just enjoyed our Friday. For our first circle time the kids all brought down pillows from the loft and cuddled up on them with the lights off for story time. We listened to "Strega Nona" on CD. It's an Italian tale about a lady with a magic pasta pot. It's a cute story.

Please don't forget to bring in your items for the carnival baskets by next Tuesday! They are really coming together. Thank you to everyone for donating some really neat items! Also, tickets are now on sale for the carnival. Make sure you purchase yours and join us Thursday eve for lots of Dr. Seuss fun! We are still looking for help running the book walk from 6:30 to 8:00 pm in 1/2 hour time slots. If you will be available to help run our class game, please sign up next week.

Have a great weekend and enjoy a few photos from our day! Oh, congrats to Parker's family on their new baby boy!

Our Trip to Italy - Tuesday

I was so proud of the kids today! They really did a great job cleaning up at the end of the day! Yeah!!

Today we kept on with our Italy theme. We had lots of fun with pasta and we even listened to a little Italian Opera. Specifically, La Traviata. They all said they enjoyed listening to it. We talked about how the two voices, a man and a women, were speaking to each other while they sang and that an opera is a play where people sing instead of talk. I guess your kids have sophisticated tastes since they enjoyed it! :-)

Wasn't it a beautiful day!! We stayed outside a little longer today to enjoy it since the news says the rest of the week will be nothing but rain. I hope you were able to get out and enjoy it a little. My doggy and I went on a nice walk! :-)

Anyway, here's some photos of our day...

Trip To Italy - Monday

If you ever get the chance to go to Italy, I highly recommend it! :-) The kids will get to enjoy some fun Italy-related activities this week. Today we colored spaghetti noodles with food coloring and then painted with them. It was kinda weird! But the kids really enjoyed it! :-)

Dr. Seuss Week- Friday

Thanks to all the moms and dads who came and read today! They really enjoy being read to so that was a nice treat! :-) Most of them were willing to try the green eggs and ham. I was proud of them. They did a great job cleaning up today too!

Thanks to Ryan's mom for bringing yummy cupcakes!

Dr. Seuss Week - Thursday

Everyone was comfy cozy in their pjs today! :-) Our classroom was full of princesses, superheros and more! We got to read a lot of great books thanks to Connor's mom coming in to read for us and Lucas' big brother! Thanks!

In the playroom today the kids created their own little "ball pit." They put all the balls in the play house and rolled around with them while making lots of silly noises.

We painted imaginary animals today for our art. Some of them got really creative with their animals! Parker created a "humumumum." I asked him, "so what animal did you make?" He said, "It's not an animal, it's a humumumum." I thought that was really creative! We read Dr. Seuss' ABC book yesterday and it has lots of weird imaginary animals in it so we've been talking about silly words. :-)
