What fun we had today! Kids love to sing silly songs about their bodies with lots of fun motions! They had a blast singing, "Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes slow and then as fast as we could. It was funny! :)

Well I finally got my computer working well enough to blog again. Contact Phone Number
I know a couple of you tried to contact me during school hours to let me know about sick kids and things today. I just wanted to let you know that the phone number listed on your newsletter is my personal cell phone. That number is inactive during school hours b/c I can't get any service downstairs. So if you need to reach me during school hours, please call the school directly. Messages can be left on the machine and Maria will get them to me as needed.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Computer is Down
Hi Everyone! I just wanted to let you know that it might be a few days before I can upload any new pictures. I'm having some SERIOUS computer problems and I won't be able to take the time to contact Dell for a couple of days probably. So for now I'm using my husband's computer but I don't have access to my photos from here. So check back next week and hopefully I'll have new stuff uploaded by then.
Thanks!
Thanks!

Well Child Policy
Well cold and flu season is fast approaching and in the Sunshine class we are already experiencing lots of runny noses and coughing...including me! :( So I just wanted to remind you of a couple things...
Don't forget to make sure your kids are drinking lots and lots of water and getting their daily dose of vitamin C.
If you have a sick child, please refer to the symptoms below to decide whether or not it's ok to come to school. If they are having any of the below, please keep them home to protect the rest of the kids and Teacher Denise and myself....
Sick Kids
Please do not bring your child to the pre-school if they have a temperature of 100° or above, or if they have a cough, diarrhea, or a green runny nose. This policy exists to protect your kids and to keep yucky germs from spreading. If your child has any of these symptoms while at the pre-school, we will call to have them picked up to go home.
Thanks for helping us keep our class as healthy as possible this year!

Building, Art and More Fun

Here's a few fun photos of our Monday Morning class (9/11/06).
The kids had an especially fun time working with the pvc pipe. They worked together and problem-solved as they figured out that only certain parts could fit together. They built self-standing structures and were very proud of their work! One thing I hope you'll notice is how many of the photos involve more than one child. The kids played very well together today and seem to really be enjoying their time together! There are lots and lots of smiles all day long!

This Week's Newsletter (9/10-9/16)
A Note From the Teacher
I hope you made it through the first week of school and are feeling great about your child’s experiences in the Sunshine Class! Don’t forget, I’m always available if you have questions or things you’d like to share!
The All About Me theme is a great way to start out the school year as kids are getting to know each other’s names and making friendships with one another. We’ll talk about everything from what we like and don’t like, to our families, our bodies, our feelings and more! By the end we hope that your kids will know themselves better as well as their classmates and that everyone will learn to celebrate and appreciate each other’s unique self!
Fun Things to do Together
Celebrate your child’s likes and dislikes by letting them help you make their favorite food! Break the recipe down into simple steps and choose several that your child can help with or do on their own. They can even help with clean up or setting the table to eat their favorite dish!
Read All About It
If you’re looking for some fun new books to enjoy together at home, here are a few possibilities…
I Like Myself by Karen Beaumont
What I Like About Me by Allia Zobel Nolan
The Skin You Live In by Michael Tyler
Ask Your Child
· To tell you something they really like to do.
· To tell you their favorite color.
· To sing their favorite song from class for you.
· To bring you something red from their room and then something that is in the shape of a circle.
This Week in the Sunshine Class
Over the next few weeks we will be spending some time getting to know each other as well as getting to know ourselves even better! Each person in the Sunshine Class is unique and special and this week we will spend time honoring our likes and dislikes and celebrating who we are!
Kids will have a chance to look at pictures of different activities and order them by what they like the most and the least. They’ll also have fun sharing these things with each other!
We’ll be making crowns that the kids can wear to show how special they are and each crown will have circle shaped jewels that will tell things about the child such as their favorite color, what they like to eat and more.
We’ll start learning the musical concept “Beat” this week with fun singing and dancing activities. We’ll also be having fun with the color red as we go on a red hunt and we’ll be seeing circles with our painting circle collages!

Sept 3-9 Newsletter: Week 1
A Note From the Teacher
Welcome to the Sunshine Class! I am really looking forward to getting to know each of you and your children! I hope you will feel comfortable coming to me throughout the year with any questions or concerns you might have and I would also love to hear the happy things your children share with you about our class.
Throughout the year I will keep a photo journal of all the fun we will be having. You can see this journal at www.sunshine-class.blogspot.com. There will be a link in each section to the photos. You will also be able to order copies of any photos you would like to have for yourself! I will also put important reminders on the site so check back frequently for up to date information.
As your children are getting used to arriving at class each day, I understand that it might not always be easy on you or them. I encourage you to give hugs and say goodbye at the door and allow myself and Teacher Denise to help them adjust and find a fun activity to participate in to start the day.
I’m looking forward to a great year in the Sunshine class and I hope you are too!
-Teacher April

This week we are taking it easy in the Sunshine class as we all get acquainted a with one another and used to our classroom routines! We’ll be working together to create a class bulletin board with our hand prints as well as a sunshine for each one of us to decorate our room.

We’re going to play a little game to help learn each other’s names. We’ll roll a ball to one another as we say our names.
We’ll also start learning some daily classroom songs like Let’s Line Up and the Clean Up Song and we’ll enjoy some other favorites like the A,B,C Song. Our sensory table will be filled with water for refreshing fun! And lastly, we’ll be talking about what kinds of things we’d like to learn about this year in the Sunshine class.
