Dr. Seuss has some very silly books! Today we read "Red Fish, Blue Fish...." The kids were laughing at many of the silly rhyming words and make-believe creatures. We made little fish bowls to go with our story. We'll send them home when they dry.
Teacher Denise and I have noticed that the computers seem to be consuming a lot of time for many children so we've decided to give the kids computer time when they arrive in the morning and then to turn them off for our late morning playtime. We've done it a couple of times now and it really seems to be increasing how much they explore the classroom and play together. They are being more creative with their toys also. Today several of the boys were creating a "robot city" with the blocks. I took a picture of it so you'll see that in the photos. They had a lot of conversations about it with each other as well.
I guess the Sunday School class that uses our room left out an art picture that was a palm tree made of tissue paper. Melissa saw it and wanted to make one of her own so we hunted down tissue paper and I drew some trees and she set out to glue on the green "leaves." Several other kids saw her and joined in on the spur-of-the-moment art project too.
Here's a few photos....

In the playroom Jullian came up with a fun new game! He started throwing balls into the hole at the top of the play house. Before long, many other children joined the game. They even figured out that they could push the balls up and out from within the house.
Here's a little video of that game...
